City Mouse To Country Mouse

I’ve lived in the country for almost 7 years now.  After growing up in a small town and then living in an urban area, I really wanted to get back to small town life.  And it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. When I moved to the city, I really enjoyed all the choices that I had access to and wondered how that would work when I moved to the country.  Now in a rural community, I still have access to almost anything I need or want via internet access, and it will be delivered within 24 hours.  The UPS man is our best friend.  Amazingly, I don’t miss the quick trip to the store and I haven’t been to a mall in over a year.   Another aspect about country living that I love is a true sense of community spirit.  Our office has really gotten involved with several community based projects which include volunteering at the local food bank and organizing a county-wide 4th of July parade.  These activities not only contribute to our community but also strengthen our work team and office community. And finally, the commute.  My biggest beef with city life is sitting in traffic. I’m a person who likes to be on the move, and the country seems to be the perfect place for that.  Each day I take my children to school before work, and my commute takes me on an amazing tour of the Blue Ridge Mountains.  Every season has its’ own beauty from lush, green, rolling hills to snow-capped mountains. I cannot imagine ever living anywhere else.
