When it comes to training employees, the retail industry has some challenges that they face on a regular basis.  Retail stores tend to have high turnover rates and few opportunities for training.  However, they cannot function without training new employees on product and process and keeping current employees informed about new products.  And, corporate buy-in can be difficult if the ROI on training to have a positive affect on the bottom line is not measured. So how do retail organizations get crucial information to their employees?  A mix of solutions is available.  According to a survey conducted by Training Magazine, 93.9% of employees participate in instructor-led training.   On-the-job training is next at 90% and then a combination of blended learning is provided.  Some retailers are jumping on new technologies for their younger employees and even offering podcasting to inform about new products. Without well-trained employees, any retail establishment will not survive.  An employee knowledgeable about new and coming products is the most valuable asset when it comes to increasing sales.  Employee retention and better sales can only lead to better profitability.  Isn’t that the best reason for training?
