Today I received my copy of Training Magazine and was so glad to hear that trainers/instructors are finally getting an honorable salary. The front cover of the magazine states that the average trainer salary in 2007 is $81,940. And I say it's about time.
Training departments have small budgets and big goals. How they spend their money, I believe, will have a direct result on the overall effect of training on the organization. And I'm really glad to see that these departments are making significant investments in their most important asset, their trainers.
Technology spending can run a close second to the need for quality instructors. I have to believe that paying instructor's what they are worth would result in higher quality instruction, thus leading to a stronger, more productive and efficient organization or business. Now if we could just get academia to pay professor's their true worth and stop spending money on needless construction.
