Another Standardized Test

According to a recent NY Times article, The College Board has created yet another standardized test to measure the academic readiness of our children.  This test is designed to be completed within two hours to evaluate the college readiness of our eighth grade students.  In theory, the information provided by this test will help educators, parents and students address areas of weakness.  I know eighth graders and I know that the last thing they need is another standardized test to stress over.  When spring testing comes around our eighth grade students are already maxed-out on testing.  This new test, called ReadiStep, is a step in the wrong direction.  Don't forget that students are missing valuable classroom instruction time to take many of these tests.  It seems to me that the College Board may just be looking for another money making opportunity at the expense of our students, as if the PSATs and SATs aren't enough.
