Rhee-grets

Now that some time has passed since Michelle Rhee laid off a couple hundred DC area teachers, I wonder if she regrets her decision.  I questioned the timing, arguing that surely the system knew their budget before the school year began, so why, after a month of school, was it necessary to eliminate so many positions?  Not only was it bad timing, it was poor planning, too. Rhee has come under attack for her actions from parents, students, teachers, and unaffected citizens.  Reportedly,  the same visionary chancellor who created a system for teacher evaluations didn't use those evaluations to eliminate positions.  Instead the decisions were made locally, by the principals in each school. When you are working in a high-profile position like Rhee's the pressure is intense and forgiveness is limited.  If Rhee does regret her decision, we will probably never know it.  Unfortunately for Rhee, her reputation is marked with this event and that mark will last a long, long time.
