Students across the country are submitting their college applications and hoping for the best. The NY Times is wondering whether or not the "elite" colleges are worth their price tags and really live up to their reputations. Click on the link to read the article for yourself. The question remains, is an ivy league education better than a public university education?
I think college can be like most anything; you get out of it what you put into it. For students who are determined to learn all they can, experience all they can, and further their station as best they can, it doesn't matter which school they attend. Sure, they may experience some limitations in various settings but if the determination exists then they will overcome those limitations no matter what. For students who are attending college just for the fun of it; it won't matter what type of school, elite or not, they still won't get anything out of it.
So as it comes to decision time, I guess it would be important to really evaluate the type of learning personality you have to determine whether it is worth the cost. How much are you willing to put in? How significant is this stage in life? Are you willing to take on the responsibility of your own education?
